In 2014 the national trade publication Hardware + Building Supply Dealer named Cox Hardware & Lumber to their fourth annual list of the 50 Hardware Store All-Stars. One store from each state was named, and Cox Hardware was proud to represent Texas that year. In their presentation, the editorial staff at HBSD wrote "Cox Hardware & Lumber's path to All-Star recognition traveled through the realms of e-commerce and industrial customers. The website, according to one supplier, beats the big players at their own game, driving customers to the store."
